I had a fun-packed afternoon with Rosie and the pram club mums at the Wacky Warehouse. The parents enjoyed it as we got to play in the ball pool and go down the slides (we had to, we were 'supervising' the toddlers!). They really ought to have wacky warehouses for adults instead of gyms, so much more fun!

Sadly I'm now at work, but I finish in 45 mins so not too bad. And tomorrow I have to run a reading group where we talk about Neil Gaiman's Stardust - it's a hard life!

Hey. Is anyone is the Manchester area planning to go and see Reel Big Fish at the Academy on the 22nd January?

[info]freddiefraggles is thinking about going, and wonders if anyone else is going.

Following today's Penny Arcade comic I had a quick look into Dante's Inferno. Skim-reading through the "plot" it seemed mostly daft; though I was a bit put off by the use of Cleopatra as the Demon Regent of Lust, it wasn't until Gluttony that I really lost interest.
"There he must face the 'great worm', Cerberus, a mass of worm-like stomach protruding from a open maw."

Cerberus is a worm now? Come on, that is not even something you have to research. Never mind the muddled confusion of Greco-Roman and Judeo-Christiam mythology; fair enough, abusing real-life personages or not knowing who Phlegyas is. But Cerberus? That's just lazy.

Have to consume a
Partly putrescent reptile;
three tequila flaw

Couldn't sleep last night, came to me nearly complete. Suspect it is a subconscious festive-season warning, as I have not touched tequila for some years...

A friend of mine - [info]auriol - is conducting some market research - if you've got 30 seconds to spare would you consider submitting a few anonymous answers here?

Thanks.

Hello. I am back, from Berlin.

It was cold, I didn't crash the truck and I'm glad I don't have to sleep in it again.

Berlin itself was nice - and I'm now thinking about going back there on holiday as I liked the city. I have seen some wall, Checkpoint Charlie (and the amusingly named nearby food outlet "Snackpoint Charlie") and may bits of interesting that I wish to further investigate.

I have decided that truck driving is not the career for me, and I'm not at ease driving a vehicle as big as that, mainly because it's just so damm unwieldy. I'm glad I tried it though, and glad had the chance to try it.

Tomorrow I have to take it back to the ASETS workshop and empty it (half the load was dropped off at a supplier in Herefordshire on the way home), then I take it back to the rental yard and wave goodbye to it.

But first, I sleep.
